1. Repairs & Rejuvenation

Brushwood fences can be repaired by rejuvenating the thatch (brushwood) and or by repairing the framework, wires and base. In fact, repairing Brushwood Fences is our Specialty! The most common repairs we carry out include:

Roll Top – Roll Tops should be assessed at the 5 year mark. Depending on the initial workmanship, and the exposure to elements (or Possums!), the Roll Top can be either supplemented or completely replaced. Besides aesthetics, the Roll Top provides important protection, from the elements, to the Thatched Fence underneath, acting as a ‘capping’. Failing to keep your Roll Top in good order can lead to more costly repairs being needed down the track.

Refill Thatch- Refilling Thatch is usually required when the top of the Fence has dropped in height, either due to deterioration to the top of the Fence itself(lack of protection to the softer part of the thatch due to Roll Top not being maintained), or due to the Fence sagging with  deterioration to the bottom of the Fence. Fence bottoms can deteriorate due to environmental conditions or  negligence (using the Fence as retaining, or whipper snippering the fence!). Other reasons can be simply due to build up of the ground level over many years, over riding the base of the Fence, which the thatch should sit on to prevent contact with the earth, or persistent obsessive pets creating holes. Both the top and bottom of the Fence can be Refilled depending on the needs and situation.

Refit or increase the Base height – the Thatch in Brushwood Fences should not come into contact with the earth. The standard method of elevating the thatch is securing H4 treated pine sleepers / slab to the posts, providing a base for the Thatch to sit on. If the base has not been installed properly or come loose, or is no longer sufficient due to the ground height, we can replace the base, by refitting treated pine sleepers at a sufficient elevation.

Repair and Re Tension Wires – affected wires always get re tensioned to compress a new Refill of Thatch, but from time to time wires can break or become excessively loose due to initial installation or people hanging plants etc off the wires. Wires can be joined, replaced and or re tensioned as required.

Straightening Posts / Frame– Posts in any Fence can come out of alignment over time due accidents, movement in the earth over time, due to the footings not be sufficient or a number of other factors. Depending on how solid the footing feels, posts can be straightened or bracing posts installed to support the post. Cross rails can also be refitted or adjusted as required.

2. New Fences and Gates

Brushwood Fences can make a very attractive and functional difference to your property.

Being made primarily of an ecofriendly, sustainable and natural material, these fences are particularly appealing in garden, water front, pool / tropical style settings. They are well suited to divide courtyards and utilised as boundary fences.

They provide good wind protection and do not reflect or retain heat in the way some Fences, such as Colorbond do.

Handmade Brushwood Fences have an enormous advantage over most other Fences, in that they are very versatile in customising the Fence to your properties, landfall, shape and height needs. Prefabricated Fences or Sheets have significant limitations in this regards.

We can also construct sleeper Retaining Walls to go under your Brushwood Fence ensuring your and your neighbours landscape levels and drainage requirements are met.

When constructed specifically for purpose, Brushwood Fences meet Council Regulations with regards to Pool Safety Certification.

A new Brushwood Fence, built by Brushwood Magic, will have significant differences to most other Brushwood Fences. These differences extend across design, materials and workmanship. Our entire process is aimed at delivering you the best value for your dollar! Contact us for an obligation free quote and let us show you!

Gates

Gates are available in many formats. Depending on which part of your property you are looking to ensure access to and from, aesthetics and what regulatory needs have to be considered, we can offer:

  • Fully Thatched Brushwood Gates with a standard D latch
  • Partly Thatched Gates with painted steel frame and security locking
  • Gates with contrasting materials to your Brush Fence (Aluminium Slatted is particularly appealing)
  • Self closing gates in any number of materials.

3. Extensions

Existing Brushwood Fences can often be extended up to provide additional privacy, or a revised top line to meet your properties needs. The galvanised steel frame can be added to and strengthened as required, new wires added to support additional thatch heights. Of course Fences can also be cut down if required. Brushwood Fences are renowned for being ‘customisable’ to capitalise on your properties aesthetics, landscaping or privacy needs
